Edmonton Convention Centre (ECC)

The majority of Upper Bound 2024 programming takes place at the Edmonton Convention Centre (ECC), where attendees can take advantage of:

  • More seating at every stage

  • A convenient downtown Edmonton location, with easy access to Amii HQ.

Amii HQ

Amii HQ (10065 Jasper Ave, Edmonton, AB T5J 3B) will play host to all tutorials and coworking.

Accessibility

We want to ensure everyone feels welcome and included at Upper Bound, so we've arranged for prayer and meditation rooms, nursing or lactation rooms, and accessible seating.

Technical Proficiency Rating

To help you find the sessions that are right for you, all Upper Bound programming will get a Technical Proficiency Rating from 1 - 5:

Level 1 = most accessible

  • Does not require advanced knowledge of AI or machine learning terminology or concepts and is intended for all audiences.

Level 5 = most complex

  • May include detailed discussions on advanced mathematical concepts and/or model architectures, and is intended for AI professionals and researchers with extensive knowledge and experience in the field.

The Nitty Gritty

  • Doors open, and badge pick-up starts on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. MDT.

  • You can pick up your conference badge at the Edmonton Convention Centre (ECC) any time between Tuesday, May 21 at 8:00 a.m. MDT and Friday, May 24 at Noon MDT.

  • Upper Bound wraps on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Noon MDT.

  • Badge pick-up, info booth, mainstage speakers, workshops, masterclasses, poster sessions, on-site food hall, and more will all be at the Edmonton Convention Centre (ECC).

  • Tutorials will all take place at Amii HQ.

  • Field trips, networking, and community events will take place at various locations around downtown Edmonton (all within walking distance of ECC and Amii HQ).

  • Food Hall Pass holders will have access to breakfast, lunch, and snacks in the designated Food Hall at the primary conference site on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the conference.

    Note: the Food Hall is not open for dinner any day and is not open at all on the Friday of the conference.

  • If you choose to forgo the Food Hall Pass, you will have access to vending machines and water fountains on-site at EEC. If you are looking for something more substantial, we encourage you to make a new friend and visit one of the amazing restaurants in the downtown area - there are lots of walkable options!

  • The weather in Edmonton can be unpredictable, so come prepared and pack for rain or shine!

*The Edmonton Oilers are killing it on the ice these days, and fans are getting excited about the prospect of their favourite hockey team making it to the playoffs. We suggest you book your accommodations early to avoid a potential playoff crunch!

Craft Beer Market

Craft has a little something for everyone. Enjoy all of your pub favourites including burgers, pizza and shareable plates or tuck into one of Craft’s plant based options.

Dalla Tavola Zenari

Dalla Tavola Zenari is a warm, authentically Italian atmosphere in the heart of downtown Edmonton. They serve delicious food AND offer a 50% discount on all wines and beers every Tuesday!

Rosewood Foods

Rosewood is a dinette and bake shop with a great breakfast menu and sandwich/salad options for lunch. Wash it all down with coffee, beer or a selection from their natural wines list!

Bianco

Bianco’s menus feature old-school Italian classics with a contemporary twist; Hand-made pasta, wood-fired oven pizzas, and carefully crafted wine lists are amongst many of its specialties.

Continental Treat Fine Bistro

Continental Treat Fine Bistro is a family-run restaurant with a menu that reflects a central and eastern European influence with the tastes of Poland, Germany, Hungary and Austria all amazingly and deliciously Gluten-Free.
